Pro Bono of the Month – August 2023

Joshua Dresslove of Dresslove Law

Joshua received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from San Marcos State University in 2002 and his Juris Doctorate from La Verne College of Law in 2006. After practicing law in California, Joshua decided to move to Las Vegas in 2020 due to the Pandemic and the Northern California wildfires. Joshua practices in bankruptcy, real estate, wills, trusts & estates and serves on the Executive Board of Directors for Clark County Bar Association. He is a member of the Southern Nevada Association of Bankruptcy Attorneys and the Northern Nevada Bankruptcy Bar Association.

Joshua became involved in providing pro bono services through Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada when he was introduced to Legal Aid Center through his work with the Clark County Bar Association shortly after he began practicing in Clark County and has been an active volunteer since.

In addition to taking cases through our office, Joshua enjoys participating in the Ask-A-Lawyer program, providing individuals with brief legal consultations over the phone. In those conversations, he tries to give participants a framework or path to the assistance they need. Joshua enjoys giving back to the community and sharing his knowledge with those in need. Since he started volunteering, Joshua has yet to look back and continues assisting whenever needed.

Imagine having a landlord evict you without proper legal procedures and no one to turn to. Joshua assisted two separate clients in defending self-help evictions or evictions outside of a valid court eviction order. These clients turned to Joshua, who apprised them of their legal rights and remedies in response to the landlord’s actions.

Joshua guided these participants, explained their rights to an expedited hearing on the subject, and provided them with information on what to file, where to file it, and how to get the fee waived. Joshua knows that one of the participants was able to regain possession of their home, which is what makes it worthwhile for him to volunteer.

We are pleased to name Joshua Dresslove as our Volunteer of the Month for August.
