Pro Bono Volunteer of the Month – September 2022
Jason Onello of Onello Law Group
Jason Onello moved to Las Vegas from Cheektowaga, New York, in 2002. He is a UNLV graduate and attended law school at the William S. Boyd School of Law. Jason is a major hockey fan and enjoys attending local games. In his spare time, he enjoys rock climbing, camping and mountain biking.
Jason first became involved with pro bono in law school when he worked for Legal Aid Center and was introduced to family law. He always knew he wanted to make pro bono work an important part of his work when he started practicing. When we asked Jason why he does pro bono work, he said “I know what it’s like to not be able to afford to get help and be in a jam. It’s suffocating. I also don’t like the idea of someone getting taken advantage of because they don’t have money for counsel. I don’t expect a pat on the back from a client, but once in a while I get a hug and that’s enough.”
When we asked Jason to tell us about one memorable client, he said that each one of his clients has been memorable because he knows they are genuinely grateful and appreciate his work.
We are proud to have Jason on our side representing cases in our Pro Bono Project. Jason’s selfless and compassionate dedication to those in need makes him the great pro bono attorney he is. We are pleased to name Jason our Pro Bono Volunteer of the Month.
