Pro Bono Volunteer of the Month – August 2017
Arturo Sanchez of the Law Office of Arturo Sanchez
Arturo Sanchez began his legal career 30 years ago. He is originally from Chicago and relocated to Las Vegas. He opened a solo practice in Las Vegas with a focus in family law. Arturo received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Illinois, Chicago and his law degree from the University Of Iowa College Of Law. In Chicago, Arturo provided pro bono legal services to the Legal Aid Center of Chicago, the Mexican American Legal Defense Fund, Uptown People’s Law Center, Centro Sin Fronteras and many other community organizations providing free legal services to their communities.
Since 2015, Arturo has accepted 6 new pro bono cases through Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada. He assisted low income clients in a variety of matters, including domestic violence, divorce and custody. For the past two years Arturo has volunteered every week for the family law ask-a-lawyer program. He is fluent in Spanish and uses his bilingual skills to assist Spanish speaking clients.
Arturo provides pro bono services because he strongly believes that the legal system should work equally for everyone. He mentioned, that clients who he has helped throughout the years have received a fair deal from the legal system with his assistance. The clients that he represented did not have the means to afford an attorney. He feels that it’s natural for him to give back because that part of him can make their lives better.
For his commitment to representing clients, and for the time he has dedicated to the Ask-A-Lawyer program, we honor Arturo Sanchez as the August Pro Bono Volunteer of the Month.
