April 2019

Robert Blau received his bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College and his Juris Doctorate from John Marshall Law School. After passing the New York Bar Exam, he practiced matrimonial law for a few years and then decided to get into the world of finance. In 2005, Robert relocated to Las Vegas from New York. Upon his arrival, Robert was a bond trader and worked for UBS. When the economy took a hit, his wife, Kristine, convinced him to take the Nevada State Bar.

Robert has been a volunteer with the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada for the past 7 years. He has been a great help to the Family Law Ask-A-Lawyer program. Robert said he became involved in providing services because he “Always felt it was necessary to give back. Plus for me, it gave me the ability to deal with real life situations and learn the law by directly applying it. I originally sat in with Kristine, Amber Robinson and some others. Good practice, while you help people, who need help.”

When we asked Robert about a memorable client he said “Hard to think of one specifically. People who just don’t know where to go and how to go about securing their custody rights, or support rights- when you inform them- they get a look of confidence and security when before they entered the meeting flustered and scared. Knowledge is a very powerful thing.

For his commitment to pro bono, we honor Robert Blau as our April Volunteer of the Month.
