Recently, a 2-year old baby boy has come into the emergent custody of Clark County Family Services (CCFS) due to threats of physical risk to the child’s safety and well-being. CCFS was alerted to the situation when this child’s younger sibling, an infant newborn, was delivered at the hospital exhibiting withdrawal symptoms caused by the various illicit substances the mother had been self-administering throughout her pregnancy. The mother of this child fails to demonstrate a full understanding of the negative effects her drug usage poses to her children; similarly, the mother fails to exhibit motivation or desire to end her drug usage. This vulnerable baby boy, in dire need of a safe environment and developmental support, requires an attorney to represent his legal rights– the next hearing is on December 5th, 2024 in Courtroom 12.
