In Abuse/Neglect Cases - Children's Attorneys Project

A 12-year old child was brought into Clark County Family Services (CCFS) custody due to concerns of physical risk, apparent neglect, and parental unavailability. A severe mental health episode, during which the child’s father demonstrated violent and erratic behavior, caught the attention of CCFS. Upon further investigation, it became apparent that this episode was consistent with a lengthy decline in the father’s mental wellbeing. These episodes render the father unable to provide a safe environment for his children. Additionally, the mother’s self-proclaimed physical illness prevents her from sustaining a viable environment for either herself or her children. This vulnerable little boy was removed with his two siblings, who are represented by separate counsel in the same matter. This child, whose demands and wishes are markedly different from his siblings, requires an attorney to represent him. The next hearing is on January 14th, 2025 at 11 a.m. in Courtroom 11.
