In Abuse/Neglect Cases - Children's Attorneys Project

This case involves a group  of five siblings, however this case is only for two girls ages 16 and 11-year old. The children were removed by DFS due to physical risk and neglect.  The parents have a lengthy history of domestic violence and drug/alcohol abuse.  The Department of Family Services has attempted to work informally with parents yet, the frequency and severity of domestic violence in the home has increased.  The last altercation, father choked and punched mother causing her to pass out.  The father was arrested and mother was transported to hospital.  At this time, these two siblings are in need of an attorney to represent their wishes and rights as to permanency, placement, and visitation and to ensure appropriate services are in place.  Next hearing(s): Disposition Hearing on 03/22/2023 at 3:00 pm; Review Hearing on 05/16/2023 and Permanency Planning Hearing on 11/21/2023 at 2:15 pm in Courtroom 11.
