In Abuse/Neglect Cases - Children's Attorneys Project

Newborn baby boy came into DFS custody after testing positive for Opiates.  Both mother and infant tested positive for drugs at the time of the birth.  Mother admitted to daily drug use during the pregnancy.  The father indicated he is able to be financially responsible for mother and son, however, he has a history of drug use.  An In-Home plan could not be completed at the time of removal.  Parental relatives have been identified for placement once baby boy is discharged from the hospital.  This infant is in need of an attorney to represent his wishes and legal rights as to permanency, placement, and visitation, and to ensure appropriate services are in place.  Next hearing(s) Status Check (Relinquishment) on 01/31/2023 at 11:00 am; Review Hearing on 04/04/2023 at 3:00 pm; and Permanency Planning Hearing on 10/03/2023 at 10:15 am in Courtroom 11.
