Nathan, an inmate at High Desert State Prison, requested a grievance after he was accused of misconduct. He states a senior officer accused him of hiding a razor that cut another officer while he was searching his cell. He denied hiding a razor and requested the grievance. He alleges the senior officer responded by handcuffing him and repeatedly assaulted him outside of the view of a camera. He also claims he was forced to do a blood test after he was assaulted. He says he was denied grievance procedures multiple times after in retaliation and the officer who conducted the search filed false notice of charges against him without following the proper procedures. As a result, Nathan filed a 1983 claim asserting violations of the 1st and 8th amendment. He is seeking representation through the Federal Pro Bono Program. Next Deadline(s): Status Conference Hearing regarding appointment of pro bono counsel on 3/21/2023 at 1:00 PM by videoconference.
