In Abuse/Neglect Cases - Children's Attorneys Project

Three siblings, ages 11, 6, and 3, were removed from their home on or about June 10, 2022 after their mother left the home and allowed the 11-year-old, who may have developmental delays, in charge of her younger siblings. The mother has mental health issues. The mother was arrested and DFS determined the maternal grandmother an inappropriate caregiver. The family home was filthy when they removed the children. The grandmother lived with the mother and children so she is included as a party to the case because she reportedly contributed to the circumstances that led to the removal of the children. The participation of the various fathers is not yet known. At this time, the children are in need of an attorney to represent their wishes and legal rights as to permanency, placement, visitation and to ensure appropriate services are in place. Next Hearing(s): CEOP/Dispositional Hearing on 8/9/2022 at 9:30 am in Courtroom 12.
