After the Taliban took over, Mohammad, his wife, and 3 children fled Afghanistan and were paroled into the U.S. on 08/30/2021. He was a school teacher for approximately 30 years in Afghanistan and encouraged all children, including girls, to attend school. He promoted education for girls and took his daughter to school, which is contrary to Taliban law. Because of his support for education for girls and his position teaching girls, he is afraid he will harmed by the Taliban. He is also afraid the Taliban would force his daughter to marry at a young age if they had to return. They all have valid employment authorization documents. This client and family are in need of an attorney to assess their case and submit an asylum request, TPS applications for each family member, and anything else the attorney deems appropriate. He speaks Dari and a volunteer interpreter is available through the Volunteer Interpreter Project upon request. Asylum Request Deadline: August 30, 2022.
