Two girls, a 4-years-old and 1-year-old, were living with their parents and their 1.5-year-old cousin. On 3/25/22, the 1.5-year-old presented to the emergency room after becoming lethargic and unresponsive. He had bruises on his forehead and lower back as well. His aunt told investigators he had fallen in the shower a day before. He was diagnosed with a blood clot in his brain and the doctors found he had a healing rib fracture and two fingers were broken. Investigators determined these injuries were not consistent with the described fall or other explanations. He was admitted to the PICU. As a result, all three children were removed from the home. The two girls are staying with their paternal aunt and uncle. The 1.5-year-old has a separate case, so these two girls are in need of an attorney to represent their legal wishes and rights as to permanency, placement, visitation, and to ensure appropriate services are in place. Next Hearing(s): Calendar Call 6/8/2022 at 3:30 pm and Adjudicatory Trial on 7/1/2022 at 9:30 am in Courtroom 9.
