Case Number: 2022-006813

In Afghan Asylum Project

Ahmad, his wife, and three minor children fled Afghanistan and were paroled into the U.S. on 8/30/2021. When he was in Afghanistan, he worked for the U.S. government as a security guard at the Department of State annex unit in Kabul. His documentation indicates he also worked at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul from 2008 until the date he left Afghanistan. Now that the Taliban are in control, he fears that his work with the U.S. government makes him a target for the Taliban. He also submitted an application for Chief of Mission (COM) approval for the Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) petition on December 18, 2021. They have valid employment authorization documents. This client and family are in need of an attorney to assess their case and represent them through the asylum process, submit TPS applications for each family member, and anything else the attorney deems appropriate. The applicant is a Pashto speaker and the best way to contact him is via phone with an interpreter. A volunteer interpreter is available through the Volunteer Interpreter Project upon request. Asylum Request Deadline: August 30, 2022.
