Abdul fled Afghanistan and was paroled into the U.S. on 11/6/2021. He was a member of the Afghanistan military for eleven years and worked as an operations manager with the military for the most recent four years prior to fleeing. In this role, controlled incoming and outgoing flights and reported his data to the U.S. government. When the Taliban took over, he feared the Taliban would target him because he assisted the U.S. government and he knew he needed to leave Afghanistan. As he predicted, the Taliban came looking for him at his home and his family told them he was in Turkey. Applicant fears he will be killed if he returns to Afghanistan. Applicant has a wife and minor children in Afghanistan that he would like to bring to the U.S. Applicant hasn’t received his employment authorization document and may need assistance obtaining it. This client is in need of an attorney to assist in changing his address with USCIS to obtain his employment authorization document, assess his case and represent him through the asylum process, submit a TPS application, and anything else the attorney deems appropriate. He speaks Dari and a volunteer interpreter is available through the Volunteer Interpreter Project upon request. Asylum Request Deadline: November 6, 2022.
