Case Number: 2022-005190

In Afghan Asylum Project

Mohammad, his wife, and minor son came to the United States on August 31, 2021 from Afghanistan and are seeking assistance with an asylum request and TPS applications. When they lived in Afghanistan, he was a member of the KPF Military Forces as a border protection soldier. He worked for that organization for one year. It was a dangerous job as he reports he was protecting Afghanistan from dangerous people. In his role, he arrested many Taliban Members. As a result, after the Taliban took over, he feared for his life and the lives of his family members. He explained he could not even let his child go outside the house or go to school because he feared the Taliban would kidnap him. He did not report any specific threats or harassment by any groups while in Afghanistan but he is afraid of future persecution if he returned to Afghanistan. The family members have Employment Authorization Documents (EAD) that expire September 22, 2023. This family is currently staying at Nevada State College and prefer to communicate via phone as they have transportation issues. This client and family are in need of an attorney to assess their case and represent them through the asylum process, submit TPS applications for each family member, and anything else the attorney deems appropriate. He speaks Pashto and an interpreter is available through the Volunteer Interpreter upon request. Asylum request deadline: August 31, 2022.
