In Abuse/Neglect Cases - Children's Attorneys Project

Because of their mother’s history of substance abuse, domestic violence, and homelessness, seven children came into DFS care in March 2022. This case is specifically for the 7.5-year-old, 4-year-old, 2.5-year-old, and 1-year-old. The remaining three siblings have different desires and therefore are not part of this case. All of the kids, with the exception of the youngest, were previously removed and reunified with their mother. The mother is current in treatment at Westcare. The 2.5-year-old and 1-year-old are in foster care. The 4-year-old is placed with a fictive kin. The 7.5-year-old is placed in a different foster home. The 7.5-year-old wants to reunify with the mother, but is also open to going with his father if that is an option. The 7.5-and 4-year-old are on one court case and the younger two kids are on another. At this time, the children are in need of an attorney to represent their wishes and legal rights as to permanency, placement, visitation and to ensure appropriate services are in place. Next Hearing(s): Status Check on 08/16/2022 at 11:00 am; Permanency Planning Hearin on 10/25/2022 a 2:00 pm in Courtroom 14.
