A sibling group of four children ages, 8-year-old, 5-year-old, 3-year-old, and 2-year-old came into DFS care in March 2022 because of their mothers history of substance abuse, domestic violence, and homelessness. There are three additional siblings but they have different desires and therefore have a separate attorney. All of the kids, with the exception of the youngest, were previously removed and reunified with their mother. The mother was in treatment at Westcare but checked herself out and relocated to Utah. The 3-year-old father is in Clark County Detention Center and the 8-year-old father lives in California and is on parole for a criminal conviction against a child there. He has shown some interest in the case but has not demonstrated change to the satisfaction of DFS. The father of the 5-year-old and the 2-year-old is homeless and DFS has been unable to locate him. At this time, the children are in need of an attorney to represent their wishes and legal rights as to permanency, placement, visitation and to ensure appropriate services are in place. Next Hearing(s): Motion to Withdraw/Confirmation of Counsel on 05/22/2023 at 11:30 a.m.; Review Hearing on 06/27/2023 at 3:00 p.m. and Permanency Planning Hearing on 10/24/2023 at 2:30 p.m. in Courtroom 8.
