A newborn baby boy went into DFS care after a report that his mother forgets to feed him and, when she does breast feed him, it is only after being told to do so. She also reportedly smokes a large amount of marijuana and feeds him, despite being advised not to breast feed him after smoking marijuana. The baby appeared to be lethargic and was admitted to the hospital last week. The medical staff concluded he was not being fed enough. His mother is not listening and is also co-sleeping with the baby despite her substance use. The mother reportedly had a history of drug use during pregnancy and does not have stable housing as she is being kicked out of where she is currently staying. There are concerns she will flee with the baby and he will die. As a result, he is in need of an attorney to represent his legal wishes and rights, ensure the appropriate services are in place. Next Hearing(s): Review Hearing on 8/10/2022 at 1:00 pm in Courtroom 9.
