In Children's Attorneys Project (Abuse/Neglect Cases)

An 11-year-old girl, 10-year-old girl, and 8-year-old boy were removed from their parents in July 2019 after a domestic violence incident in which the parents were arrested. They came into care with their younger siblings. The parents have since had another child. The parents have substance abuse issues and there is a history of domestic violence between them. These three siblings live with their aunt and uncle and the younger siblings are all placed with their maternal grandmother. At the review hearing on 1/4/22, DFS asked the Court to change the permanency goal to termination of parental rights (TPR) for these children. The younger siblings have different goals although TPR was requested for them too. The judge granted the request and TPR is now the goal for all children except for the baby. These three older children wish to be adopted by their aunt and uncle. These three siblings need an attorney to advocate for their desire to be adopted by their aunt and uncle. Next Hearing(s): TPR Plea Hearing on 3/15/22 at 9:30 am.
