In Abuse/Neglect Cases - Children's Attorneys Project

A 7-year-old, 2-year-old, and a 6-month-old came to the attention of DFS on or about October 14, 2021 with an older sibling. They were taken into care after a report that the stepfather sexually abused the oldest sibling while under his care. The incident occurred while the mother was in the hospital giving birth to the youngest sibling. All parties have been interviewed and it was decided to be in the best interest of the children to be removed until an in-home case plan was in place. An in-home present danger plan was implemented with the mother and the stepfather agreed to leave the home and have no contact with the children. The oldest sibling already has representation. At this time, the three younger siblings are in need of an attorney to represent their wishes and legal rights as to permanency, placement, visitation and to ensure appropriate services are in place. Next hearing(s): Permanency Planning Hearing on 10/19/2022 at 10:45 am in Courtroom 11.
