After their newborn sibling was born exposed to multiple drugs, an 8-year-old, 7-year-old, and 6-year-old came into DFS care on or about November 25, 2021. DFS performed follow-up checks with the family and found that the parents lack protective capacities. Their mother claims her drug use began as a result of breaking her foot and said she became addicted to medications. The father of the newborn is in denial of the mother’s drug use and does not acknowledge a problem. The father of the three children seeking representation is incarcerated and unable to care for them. As a result, these children are in need of an attorney to represent their legal wishes and rights as to permanency, placement, visitation, and to ensure appropriate services are in place. Next Hearing(s): Permanency Planning Hearing on 11/22/2022 at 2:30 pm in Courtroom 12.
