After an 8-year-old girl’s mother left her at the home they were temporarily staying at on or about October 25, 2021, the child entered into DFS care. The mother is facing allegations of neglect and physical injury neglect because she left the child at the home without arranging for child care and without advising the resident’s owners, who could not care for the child, that she was leaving and where she was going. The child was then passed between various adults, including neighbors and old friends of her mother, until she was taken into care. She is staying with fictive kin. Her mother does not have stable housing, has a history of substance abuse, and has mental health issues. Her father is not responding to CPS after initial communications with him. This child is in need of an attorney to represent his wishes and legal rights as to permanency, placement, and visitation and to ensure appropriate services are in place. Next hearing(s): Review Hearing on 04/25/2022 at 1:30 p.m., in Courtroom 10.
