Children, now 11 years old and 13 years old, were placed under a guardianship with their maternal grandmother in 2012. Their natural parents are now each trying to terminate the guardianship and get the kids back. The court ordered DFS to do a report as is required under NRS 432B to assess the parents. There was some confusion and DFS failed to do the report the first time so the matter was continued for them to complete their report. These children need an attorney to to review the file, talk to CPS, and talk to the kids about whether they want to go back with natural parents or stay with their grandmother and why. After doing this, the attorney will represent their wishes and legal rights at the hearing on 11/8. The case may resolve with just those arguments but there is the possibility it may get set for an evidentiary hearing on whether it is in the kids best interest for the guardianship to be terminated. Next Hearing(s): Status Check on 12/2/2021 at 9:30 am in Courtroom 14.
