A 15-year-old girl and her 14-year-old sister came into DFS care on July 20, 2021 because their guardian reported that they had been acting out, stealing items from the home, and eventually ran from her home with the 15-year-old’s 5-month-old son. The guardian stated that their behavior was such that they are not allowed to return to the home. During the booking process at Child Haven, both teenagers tried to flee and take the 15-year-old’s 5-month-old son. The police were called and, when police tried to intervene, the two became disruptive. They were arrested for obstructing a police officer. Both girls were later released and placed back at Child Haven. The 14-year-old was then placed back with the guardian but the guardianship was dissolved as to the 15-year-old. As a result, this 15-year-old girl is in need of an attorney to represent her legal wishes and rights as to permanency, placement, visitation, and to ensure appropriate services are in place. Next Hearing(s): Review Hearing on 02/15/2022 at 3:00 pm in Courtroom 11.
