An inmate at High Desert State Prison filed a 42 U.S.C. 1983 claim against multiple employees and doctors of the Nevada Department of Corrections (NDOC) for injuries suffers from lack of medical treatment for Scoliosis since April 2004 when he was transferred to the custody of NDOC from California. He was diagnosed with Scoliosis in 2003 and received treatment while in the custody of the California prison system, but the treatment was not continued when he was extradited to Nevada. He suffers constant debilitating pain from the waist down, experiences symptoms of nerve damage, and lack of bowel control, and is currently in a wheelchair because of the condition and alleged lack of treatment.
