Two boys, ages 11 and 9, and their older siblings went into care in February 2020 due to being neglected by both parents, domestic violence between their dad and his girlfriend, and environmental neglect. They were placed in a foster home with their sister but then she was disrupted from the home because of her behaviors and encouraging the boys to runaway with her. After she left, the boys disrupted from the first home and another foster home. They are now in their third foster home. All of the kids have special educational, therapeutic, and behavioral needs. There is a Termination of Parental Rights petition against dad and the DA plans to move forward, but the boys would like to reunify with their dad. Their mother has not been raising the kids and does not maintain contact consistently with them outside of a birthday call. Her rights are pending termination and a prove up was done as she is not participating in the court process. The dad, however, has been trying to engage in services recently but is just not showing true behavioral change. The biggest issue for these boys if rights are terminated is they would be legal orphans with no adoptive resource and they are so bonded to dad and have so many issues that would make securing a non-relative resource difficult. These children are in need of an attorney to represent their wishes and legal rights as to permanency, placement, and visitation and to ensure appropriate services are in place. Next hearing(s): Calendar Call Hearing on 10/27/2021 at 10:30 a.m., Adjudicatory Trial on 11/15/2021 at 11:30 a.m., Motion to Appoint Person Responsible for Psychiatric Care of Child on 11/17/2021 at 11:30 a.m., and Permanency Planning Hearing on 01/18/2022 at 2:30 p.m. in Courtroom 12.
