A 16-year-old boy and his younger siblings were removed from their home in February 2020 due to being neglected by both parents, domestic violence between their dad and his girlfriend, and environmental neglect. Since entering care the placement issues have been ongoing. This teenager ran away from the initial placement from the very beginning, and was never brought back in care longer than a few days, until August 2021. It’s suspected that he ran to be with his natural father at his home, but was then kicked out of that home when his younger sister ran away to the home and there was conflict between them. All of the kids have special educational, therapeutic, and behavioral needs. In particular, this teenager struggles with depression and is chronically suicidal and was recently hospitalized as a result. He appears to want full termination of his parents’ rights and would rather age out in foster care. The mother has not been raising the kids and does not maintain contact consistently with them outside of a birthday call. Her rights are pending termination and a prove up was done as she is not participating in the court process. The dad however was at least trying to engage in services recently, but is just not showing true behavioral change. This 16-year-old kid is in need of an attorney to represent his wishes and legal rights as to permanency, placement, and visitation and to ensure appropriate services are in place. Next hearing(s): Calendar Call Hearing on 10/27/2021 at 10:30 a.m., Adjudicatory Trial on 11/15/2021 at 11:30 a.m., Motion to Appoint Person Responsible for Psychiatric Care of Child on 11/17/2021 at 11:30 a.m., and Permanency Planning Hearing on 01/18/2022 at 2:30 p.m. in Courtroom 12.
