A 5-year-old girl came into DFS care in August 2020 after her mother and grandmother engaged in a physical altercation and were arrested. Due to her mom’s continued and escalating behaviors, there are concerns related to her untreated mental health. In addition, there are concerns that the father also struggles with substance abuse. This 5-year-old is reported to be aggressive with peers at school and to have engaged in sexualized behaviors in two foster placements. The parents’ rights are still intact and the current permanency plan is termination of parental rights. The little girl wants to reunify and her sister wants a different permanency plan so, at this time, this little girl is in need of an attorney to represent her wishes and legal rights as to permanency, placement, visitation and to ensure appropriate services are in place. Next Hearing(s): Status Check on September 29, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in Courtroom 23.
