Sibling group ages 4, 3, and 2 years old came into DFS care on February 24, 2021 due to history of domestic violence between the parents. The latest incident involved mother being held against her will. Father attempted to flee from the police. Mother was observed to have a black eye and bruising around her neck and jaw, and strangulation marks were observed by medical personnel at the hospital. Mother admitted repeatedly being victimized by father, separating and then reuniting with him. Additionally, oldest child also had a black eye and no responsible adult had any explanation for how the child got the black eye. The house itself wreaked of urine and feces and there was week old food in the kitchen. The two youngest children’s diapers were falling off from the weight of accumulated feces and urine; there was feces in a functional toilet which had not been flushed. The children were playing with live bullets. Days after the fathers’ arrest natural mother is again thinking of returning to him and not testifying against him, indicating a total lack of protective capacity for her children. Next hearing is an Adjudicatory Trial on 5/24/2021 at 1:30 pm in Courtroom 11.
