Newborn baby boy came into DFS care on June 11, 2020 due to mother and baby both testing positive for methamphetamine when the child was born. Natural mother denies use and stated that she may have smoked marijuana that had been laced with methamphetamine without her knowledge. She acknowledged prior use of methamphetamine but states she was “tired of the stuff and only smokes cigarettes. The child had a medical issue which delayed his discharge from the hospital, when he was ready for discharge the mother was in CCDC on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle. Natural father was also located at CCDC on charges involving possession of a firearm. Neither parent was available to take custody of the child for three additional days after the child was eligible for discharge.  Next hearing is a Plea Hearing on 7/14/2020 at 3:00 pm in Courtroom 11.
