Newborn baby girl came into DFS care on May 18, 2020 due to concerns of mental health and/or substance abuse of natural parents, lack of resources, including lack of housing, income or ability to provide for the child. Father’s speech was described as pressured, talks fast and could not maintain a train of thought, both parents were disheveled and there were concerns that father was not taking prescribed medications. Parents were living with maternal relatives, where mother intended to stay while father intended to move to Missouri where he has relatives. Father was overheard coaching his mother regarding what to say about housing and his work opportunities if she was contacted by CPS. Eventually, father was excluded from the maternal relative’s home and mother wanted to move to Arizona. Police were called and interviewed both parents who gave them inconsistent answers regarding what their plans were. Parents left for Arizona, leaving the baby with maternal relatives, during their time with the maternal relatives, parents did not routinely care for the child. Next hearings are; Calendar Call on 9/9/2020 at 10:15 am and Trial on 9/18/2020 at 1:30 pm in Courtroom 11.
