In Children's Attorneys Project (Abuse/Neglect Cases)

Newborn baby boy came into DFS care on April 10, 2020 due to law enforcement investigating reported sales of narcotics in the tunnels in the area of I-215 and Jones. Natural mother was observed leaving a tunnel and natural father ran from the tunnel carrying the minor child. Neither have any shelter or source of income. Both admitted to using methamphetamine earlier in the day and using methamphetamine three to four times per week. No formula or diapers for the child were located and the child appeared dirty and hungry and his eyes were red (from lack of sleep). The parents appeared to be high on methamphetamine. Natural mother had her parental rights terminated regarding an older child in November, 2019, based on lack of resources and shelter and continued use of methamphetamine. Other minor was adopted in July of 20l9.  Next court dates are; a Calendar Call Hearing on 7/14/2020 at 1:30 pm and an Adjudicatory Trial on 8/3/2020 at 9:45 am in Courtroom 11.
