The child came into DFS care on February 19, 2020 after the child was born substance exposed (Opioids). Mother was noted to be under the influence during delivery, and she stated to staff that she used Heroin just before delivery. Specialist Fisher met with mother on February 4, 2020, she then stated that she uses drugs on a daily bases. Mother is employed which makes her ineligible for public assistance, she relies on the minor’s father for financial support, as well as providing her with drugs. Both parents were homeless and lived on the streets going from place to place. Father is currently in drug rehab facility, and mother is staying with a family friend. Friend did not pass the initial background check, and mother has no relatives that can care subject child. Mother does not have any baby supplies or resources. Drug use and lack of resources seem to be the primary issues in this case. The child is currently placed in Foster Care. Next hearing is a Review Hearing 10/20/2020 at 3:00 pm in Courtroom 14.
