2 year old twins came into DFS when maternal grandmother called law enforcement in regards to mother’s bizarre behavior. Law enforcement contacted mother, maternal grandmother, and children. Mother exhibited signs of possible mental issues and was transported to UMC on a legal 2000 hold. ERT Specialist spoke with the officers that were on the scene of the incident, the officers told specialist about mother’s behavior and explained that she was taken to UMC for a legal hold. It was also reported by the officers that mother has another child that resides in California with the father. Specialist made contact with maternal grandmother at which time, she noted the smell of marijuana and she appeared to be “extremely high”, marijuana paraphernalia was also seen on the counter tops during the visit. Maternal grandmother stated that father has made effort to bring diapers for the children but mother will not allow him to help. Primary issues in this case are mental health issues on the part of mother as well as maternal grandmother’s extreme marijuana usage around the children. Father was contacted in California and he is engaging in the legal process with DFS; father stated in court that he will have housing for his children and his self on April 1, 2020. Mother stated that she has housing and is currently employed. The children are currently placed in foster care. Next hearings are; a Status Check on Mother’s Progress Hearing on 9/29/2020 at 2:00 pm and a Permanency Planning Hearing on 1/26/2021 at 3:00 pm in Courtroom 14.
