Monique Jammer

Non-CAP Volunteer of the Month – December 2021

Monique Jammer – Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck LLP

Monique Jammer moved from California to attend the William S. Boyd, School of Law. She completed an Eighth Judicial District Court clerkship before becoming a practicing litigation attorney at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck LLP. Her interest in pro bono started before law school when she had the opportunity to assist with a pro bono asylum matter. Her pro bono interests advanced as she worked on cases and volunteered in various programs during law school, which earned her the highest pro bono honors at graduation. She has also been fortunate to have always worked for law firms that value such service. Brownstein takes special care to engrain pro bono endeavors into an attorney’s passion to practice.

Monique is grateful for the chance to work in and give back to Las Vegas and Nevada. She feels that it is her duty and desire to lift all of those in our communities as she grows as an attorney and a fellow community member. She sees collective progression as the best path toward improving the world we live in, and that starts with working to ensure every person has access to the knowledge and resources to succeed in all areas of life. She puts these ideals into action through taking pro bono CAP cases and volunteering for the Landlord-Tenant and Small Claims Ask-A-Lawyer sessions on a weekly basis.

Monique shares the most memorable client she helped: “My most memorable client so far came from a Landlord-Tenant Ask-A-Lawyer session. The tenant was overwhelmed with receiving threats of an eviction, and shared the unique circumstances of living with the landlord and having a disagreement. I explained Nevada laws on the eviction process, the value of their duly executed year lease agreement, and the benefits of having a person-to-person conversation to resolve the disputes that gave rise to the threats. The tenant expressed gratitude for bringing such a simple approach to mind and explained how appreciative they were that Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada has this program available.”

For her commitment to pro bono, we honor Monique Jammer as our December 2021 Volunteer of the Month.
