Case Number: 2019-006480

In Children's Attorneys Project (Abuse/Neglect Cases)

Four siblings, ages 8 years to 2 years, came into DFS care in August 2019, when their parents were arrested.  The 4 year old child was found unsupervised and walking along a busy street. The mother was located shortly thereafter and admitted to leaving the two youngest children at home alone.  The father of the youngest child was detained due to an active warrant and remains in custody.  Both parents appeared to be under the influence. The home was found to be unsanitary and without adequate food.  Marijuana was also found in the home and easily accessible to the minor children.  The fathers of the oldest child and the 4 year old are both incarcerated and the mother does not know their last names.   Paternity as to the second oldest child has not been established, however, the putative father is engaged with the Department.  The children are placed in foster care.  The parents are to have supervised visitation twice a week. Adjudication Trial is on 12/20/2019 at 10:00 a.m. in CR 22.
