This is a conflict case and requires a pro bono attorney to represent two sisters, ages 7 and 1 year, who were removed along with their older sister and brother from their mother’s care after their mother was arrested for allegedly physically abusing the oldest sister. All four children are placed with the maternal grandparents, who had custody during a prior investigation. There are indications that the family’s living situation is unstable, with the mother moving frequently and leaving the kids home alone for an extended period of time. The oldest sister and one other sibling are represented by a CAP staff attorney, and do not want to reunify with the mother. These clients want to reunify with the mother and therefore need a different attorney to represent their legal wishes and rights as to permanency, placement, visitation, and to ensure appropriate services are in place. There is a Review Hearing set for August 28, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. in Courtroom 23.
