Case Number: 2019-003782

In Children's Attorneys Project (Abuse/Neglect Cases)

This is a conflict case for our office and requires a pro bono attorney to represent two siblings, ages 13 and 8 years old, who came into DFS care in May 2019 due to their mother being arrested.  The arrest stemmed from a physical altercation between mom and an older sibling.  The older sibling is being represented by a CAP staff attorney.  Domestic violence is routine in the home with the children being involved either directly or being present during violence between other adults who live in the home.  The father’s location is unknown.  The children are currently at home with the mother with a safety plan in place.  These children are in need of an attorney to represent their legal wishes and rights as to permanency, placement, visitation, and to ensure appropriate services are in place.  There is an Adjudicatory Plea Hearing set for June 19, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in Courtroom 22.
