In Children's Attorneys Project (Abuse/Neglect Cases)

This is a conflict case for our office and a pro bono is required to represent this child, age 9, who came into care due to mom’s untreated mental health issues in which her children became fearful that mom was going to hurt them.  This is the second petition for this family. This child does not have any mental health or special education needs.  Mom has not made much progress on her case plan the father is incarcerated in federal prison.  This child had an attorney up until recently when him and his brother’s wishes no longer aligned and created a conflict.  This child wants to reunify with his mom but only if his brother will be with him.  Something his brother does not currently want.  Sibling visitation will need to be addressed.  This child is in need of an attorney to represent his wishes and rights to permanency, placement, visitation and to ensure appropriate services are in place.  There is a Permanency Planning Hearing set for November 27, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. in Courtroom 23.
