This is a conflict case for our office and requires a pro bono attorney to represent a 2 year old little boy who came into DFS care on April 26, 2019 after mother dropped him off to her ex-boyfriend and failed to come back for a few days. Mother’s explanation as to why she did not return from the child did not add up. Mother is struggling with homelessness and substance use is suspected. Father is reported to be in and out of jail on domestic violence charges. There is history of domestic violence towards mother, and she reports fear of father being able to track her down and find her. This little boy’s mother appears to be engaged but the department has yet to locate the father. The child is currently in foster care. This child is in need of an attorney to represent his legal wishes and rights as to permanency, placement, visitation, and to ensure appropriate services are in place. There is an Adjudicatory Plea Hearing set for May 21, 2019 at 9:45 a.m. in Courtroom 14.
