This is a conflict case and we are unable to keep in house, requiring a pro bono attorney to represent two siblings, ages 7 and 5 years old, who came into DFS care in December of 2017. One of the children was medically neglected by the mother, the child was admitted to UMC where he had a seizure as a result from an infection. The family has been experiencing housing instability, they were staying at Shade Tree, were evicted due to an incident between two older siblings, wherein one of the children was transported to detention. There are concerns about the mother’s untreated mental health issues which include: Depression, PTSD, Anxiety and Borderline Personality Disorder. She is not currently taking her medication. The father neglected the subject minors by failing to provide proper care, custody, supervision, shelter or other care necessary for their well- being. He has not had contact with the subject minor and has failed to provide financial or other support for the subject minors. These children are in need of an attorney to represent their legal wishes and rights as to permanency, placement, visitation, and to ensure appropriate services are in place. There is a Permanency Planning Hearing set for December 4, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. in Courtroom 21.
