This is a conflict case and requires a pro bono attorney to represent a 1 year old little boy who came into DFS care in May 2019, after his father was arrested for drug possession. At the time of the arrest, the child was found in a known drug house and the occupants informed the police that they did not know where his father was. While CPS was inspecting the home, CPS observed movement in a closet, which turned out to be the father hiding. The child’s mother is currently in prison and unable to take her son. The child has various half-siblings who have been in the system, some of which have been adopted. This child is currently in a foster home, but there may be a family member who can take him. This child is in need of an attorney to represent his legal wishes and rights as to permanency, placement, visitation, and to ensure appropriate services are in place. There is an Adjudicatory Plea Hearing set for June 10, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in Courtroom 23.
