In Children's Attorneys Project (Abuse/Neglect Cases)

This is a conflict case and requires a pro bono attorney to represent a smart, funny, and charismatic 13 year old boy after a conflict arose with his wishes and that of his siblings.  Five siblings; ages 16 years, 13 years, 11 years, 9 years, 5 years, and 7 months, at the time they were initially removed, came into care in 2015.  These children have been in the foster care system for the past 4 years due to allegations that their mother, older sibling, and one of the children’s father kidnapped and assaulted a woman to try to force her to prostitute for them while the children were in the home. The home was unkept, infested with roaches, and had very little food. The children also had access to multiple guns and knives in the home, some of the knives were located in the youngest child’s pack n’ play with the child.  These children had an attorney as of March 2019 however, after conflict arose the attorney was unable to keep the case.  This child, is in need of a separate attorney as it is this child’s wish to move with family to California whereas the siblings in this case are wanting to be adopted by an adoptive resource in Nevada.  There is a Review Hearing set for June 4, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. in Courtroom 20.
