Case Number: 2019-001318

In Children's Attorneys Project (Abuse/Neglect Cases)

This child and her older sister came into DFS custody almost 3 years ago. They were found in an apartment, with their mother having not been in touch for a number of weeks. They had not been enrolled in school for 6 months prior to being taken into protective custody. In late 2016, Nancy and her sister ran from DFS custody and have remained, for the most part, on runaway status for the last two years. This child’s sister is now 18.  This child resurfaced and is now in a foster home. The parents are not engaged.  This child is in need of an attorney to represent her wishes and legal rights as to permanency, placement, visitation, and to ensure appropriate services are in place.  There is a Permanency Planning Hearing set for April 22, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. in Courtroom 23.
