Case Number: 2019-001297

In Children's Attorneys Project (Abuse/Neglect Cases)

This little boy is almost two years old, and has spent most of his life in the foster care system.  He is lucky enough to be placed with his paternal grandmother, but his future is very uncertain.  He was removed from his mother’s care at the age of 7 months over concerns of ongoing domestic violence between his mother and the man on his birth certificate, who is not his biological father.  His mother admitted to using meth on a regular basis at the time of removal.  To date, none of the parents (mother, putative father, biological father) have completed any of their case plan requirements.  The case is currently headed to Termination of parental rights/adoption, and the paternal grandmother indicated she is willing to adopt.  This child has chronic ear infections, which may require surgery in the near future. He also is undergoing care through Early Childhood Mental Health Services for an increase in aggressive behavior.  This child needs an attorney to advocate for his wishes and legal rights as to permanency, placement, visitation, and to ensure appropriate services are in place.  The next haring is a Review Hearing set for June 18, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. in Courtroom 22.
