Four children, ages 7 years, 5 years, 4 years, and 3 years, came into DFS care upon request of their maternal grandmother. Maternal grandmother took the boys in after their mother was arrested for domestic violence, believing the boys would only be with her for a day. The grandmother called CPS for help when the mother was not released. In speaking with CPS, the grandmother reported physical abuse/excessive corporal punishment and environmental neglect in the home of the mother. The father to the two youngest children has requested custody of his sons, but CPS has some concerns about some recent domestic violence convictions. The boys are currently separated: The oldest child is still with the grandmother, but the younger three are currently at Child Haven. An attorney is needed to represent these children as to their wishes and legal rights to placement, permanency, visitation, and to ensure appropriate services are in place. There is a Disposition Hearing / All Pending Matters Hearing set for April 3, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Courtroom 22.
