Siblings, 13 year old and 11 year old, came into DFS care on January 31, 2019 after one of the children reached out to the Safe Voice App and reported suicidal ideology. Mother was subsequently contacted but is a long haul bus driver and had left the children home alone. Mother appears to be unable to balance her job and parenting responsibilities, as the children are reported to be left alone often while mom works. The department and mother tried to arrange a safety plan, but those arrangements appear to have failed. Mother has a history with DFS relating to neglect. Mother appears to be engaged with the department. Father appears to be out of the picture. The children are currently placed with maternal grandmother. At this time the children are in need of an attorney to represent their wishes and legal rights as to permanency, placement, visitation and to ensure appropriate services are in place. The next hearing set is an Adjudicatory Plea Hearing set for March 28, 2019 at 9:45 a.m. in Courtroom 14.
