This is a conflict case and requires a pro bono attorney to represent a six year old little girl and her four younger siblings (ages 5 years, 3 years, 2 years, and 1 month) who were all placed into protective custody after the youngest child was born substance exposed (marijuana and methamphetamines). Both parents eventually admitted to use, claiming it helped them keep up with work and taking care of all the kids. Further investigation revealed that the family home had no furniture or food, and the kids were often left unsupervised. The four older children are currently placed with their paternal grandparents. The baby will be placed with maternal relatives, as the parents were separated at the time of his conception. The mother is agreeable to paternity testing and the assumption is all five children have the same father. This sibling group is in need of an attorney to represent their wishes and legal rights as to permanency, placement, visitation, and to ensure appropriate services are in place. There is a Review Hearing set for July 10, 2019 at 1:30 p.m., in Courtroom 23.
