This is a conflict case and requires a pro bono attorney to represent a newborn baby boy who came into DFS care in January 2019 due to being born substance exposed. The baby was born premature and needed to be put on a ventilator due to respiratory issues and has withdrawal symptoms. The baby’s mother has not engaged in her case plan and there have been no behavioral changes made in her permanency case with the department. The mother has 5 other children that are not in her care. This child is in a separate foster home as the family who is caring for the other 5 children were unable to take the newborn. The baby’s father is incarcerated and pending charges. An attorney is needed to represent the child’s wishes and legal rights regarding permanency, placement, visitation, and to ensure the appropriate services are in place. There is a Review Hearing set for July 17, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in Courtroom 22.
