A 2 year old boy came into DFS care in April 2017, when he was hospitalized for seizures due to the negligence of the parents not providing him with a proper nutritional regimen. His siblings were previously removed over concerns of domestic violence, drug use and general neglect. The mother’s rights were terminated in June 2018 and the father’s rights were terminated in August 2018. The child is legally free for adoption and is placed with an adoptive resource. The child has four siblings: a 9 year old, a 7 year old, a 6 year old, and a 4 year old. His sisters are in a higher level of care (HLOC) placement, however, his placement is considering taking placement of the girls. The older brother has some behavioral concerns, with some of those behaviors being directed toward the girls. The four year old was recently adopted. There is a sibling visitation order in place for monthly visits which includes the adopted brother. The child needs an attorney to advocate for his wishes and legal rights as to placement, permanency, visitation, and to ensure appropriate services are in place. There is a Permanency Planning Hearing on April 17, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. in Courtroom 23.
